\"Art<\/a>\u00a0A<\/strong>rt started\u00a0out on the cello at age 10.\u00a0 He quickly was recognized as a talent and played for the\u00a0All-City Philadelphia School Orchestra. \u00a0From there, Art picked up the acoustic\u00a0bass and started playing swing jazz standards.\u00a0 Later, that very year, Art got an electric bass guitar and started his long career as a working musician.\u00a0 Some of the bands Art played with in the 60″s included, The Four Lords and the<\/em> V.I.P.s. <\/em>These popular Philly bands were successful and provided\u00a0Art with his first local radio air play.<\/p>\n

Along came the 70’s and the disco era.\u00a0\u00a0Art and his band,\u00a0The Midnight Express, <\/em>met the club scene demand; playing solidly for\u00a0four straight years.\u00a0 In the 80’s, Art joined the Juke Rockers<\/em>, a blues band covering Muddy Waters, BB King and Stevie Ray.\u00a0\u00a0At the height of their popularity, they opened for Wille Dixon, Albert\u00a0King, Albert Collins and Jr. Walker and the All Stars at the Chestnut Cabaret in Philly.<\/p>\n

The 90’s saw Art return to his roots on the cello and join the South Jersey Pops.\u00a0 Art sang and played electric bass and cello in a variety of bands in the Philadelphia and South Jersey Area until his passing in the Fall of 2018.\u00a0 We will miss Art and his optimistic view about music and life.<\/p>\n
